All CrossFit gyms are a little different. Here is what makes Slate so special to us.

Our Facility

Slate is equipped with latest and best in functional training equipment and laid out in our spacious facility.

  • With 6,000 sq ft of workout space, we are one of the largest dedicated CrossFit facilities in the Seattle area
  • Spacious and ample room for your functional fitness needs
  • 3 bathrooms and a private shower suite so you can go straight to work
  • Dedicated Olympic weightlifting area
  • Equipped with all the barbells, bumperplates, dumbbells, kettlebells, a 40+ foot pullup rig, and gymnastic rings you could ever need.
  • Gym is regularly cleaned and maintained with professional floor scrubber and sanitzer.

OUR STAFF

Our coaching staff is comprised of a diverse staff that is dedicated to ensuring you achieve your goals while with working with us in classes.

  • Jared – Head Coach – CF-L2, Gymnastics, Mobilty, USAW – Club Coach. Jared is currently working on a doctorate in sport and performance psychology
  • Josie – Our resident powerlifter – CrossFit Level 1. Josie loves all things barbell and is an active powerlifting competitor. 
  • Derek – Weekend Coach – CrossFit Level 1, Derek is a former Army Medic and current full-time student at SPU where he is completing an integrated degree in health and fitness. 
  • Bill – the “Row guy” – CrossFit Level 2, CF Rowing, CF Gymnastics. Bill is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Washington Army National Guard. 
  • Patty – Our homegrown coach – CrossFit Level 1. Patty is our newest coach, and excels at all things gymnastics. 
  • Buiford – “Big Sexy” – CrossFit Level 1, NSCA CPT – Buiford will be attending EWU this fall in pursuit of a exercise physiology degree.
  • Allison – Olympic Weightlifting Coach – Full time firefighter with the SFD and former CrossFit Games athlete (2010, 2012)

If you are a beginner you are welcome and encouraged to come in, every class, every day.

 

If you are an experienced athlete, you are welcome to come in a be challenged and continue to see improvement to your skills and strengths.

 

At Slate we have a little bit of everything:

All backgrounds: From Moms and dads, Students and Doctors, Firefighters and Police Officers, to retirees and high school students, nurses, accountants, electricians, to high school principals. Slate is filled with people from all backgrounds, professions and we welcome you to bring your experiences and passions when you come!

 

All experience levels: From never picked up a barbell or been to a gym to former Olympic athletes. From retirees wanting to improve and maintain their quality of life to aspiring fire fighters wanting to prepare for the rigors of the academy. Slate is prepared to meet you where you are at and show you the steps to improvement.

 

All goals and motivations: From someone looking to lose a few pounds to an ice climber look looking to maintain their conditioning in the off-season. From competitive CrossFit athletes in pursuit of a Regionals qualification to a teacher needing to destress from a hectic classroom. Slate is prepared and ready to help you achieve whatever you bring through the doors.
